Welcome to Healing Strides of VA
Celebrating 25 Years!
Healing Strides of VA (HSVA) is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization established in 1991. We are located on 22 acres with 2 large pastures, 3 paddocks, a round pen, a large enclosed arena, and an outdoor arena. We have a professional staff, certified instructors, trained volunteers, and a herd of 20+ horses.
HSVA is the only Premier Accredited Center (PAC) with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Riding Int’l (PATH) in the Roanoke Valley. HSVA is also a US Pony Club Center- the 2nd in the US with an integrated program.
We are an Equine Assisted Activities and Therapy Program (EAAT) which includes Therapeutic Riding, Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), Equine Assisted Psychotherapy EAP, Hippotherapy, and several other programs related to equine therapies. Healing Strides of VA chooses to use the EAGALA Model as our primary model for EAP and EAL.
The Harry and Lavon Webb Arena officially opened in 2015. Our professional offices and therapy rooms are located in the Hannah’s House of Hope building. By enclosing the arena we now have approximately 20,000 SF under roof. We operate year round.
Healing Strides of VA is situated on 22 acres bordering Magadee Creek- just North of Boones Mill, 10 minutes South of Roanoke- Tanglewood Mall area. Healing Strides of VA operates year round. Come see us!

We are so very proud to announce that our very own Sugarfoot was presented the 2013 Region 3 Horse of the YEAR Award at the 2013 PATH Int’l National Conference in Orlando Florida. Sugarfoot is a spectacular horse and our Superstar! We are so honored that he was recognized for his remarkable work that he continues to provide to us each week.
We would also like to recognize that Carol Young our Executive Director was a presenter of two seminars at the conference. She worked in conjunction with Nancy Paschall of Dream Catchers, Jack Wood of Unbridled Joy, and Dee’Anna Wright. Carol has received many compliments on her presentations and has been asked to speak at many other venues.
