Sugarfoot
Sugarfoot: Is a 24 year old QH Cross. Sugarfoot was the 2011 Horse of the Year for Healing Strides of Virginia, and awarded the State 2012 TRAV Horse of the Year, Therapeutic Riding Association of Virginia. He is our “Superstar” in all aspects of the word. He has been on Live TV for Our Blue Ridge in 2010, and has been interviewed by numerous reporters, such as Jean Jadhon of WDBJ, Lindsey Ward WSLS, David Tate WSET, and Bryce Williams of WDBJ.
Sugarfoot retired from a very successful Eventing Career and now loves his job with Healing Strides. He was actually born in Carol Young’s front yard and has been a favorite amongst both the young and old, beginners and advanced riders, all love him. He is a walk/trot/canter horse and is of course all around good natured and sensitive to all his riders. His versatility and sweet nature is why he has been awarded such high honors.
Sugarfoot is the horse we go to whenever we get a new piece of equipment. We can trust him to accept his role and allow us to learn the new equipment safely.
Sugarfoot is free leased to us by Theresa Wood.

Tuck
Tuck: 15 year old Bay, Quarter Horse gelding. Tuck is a favorite for many of our riders. He is a walk/trot/canter horse, willing to carry the smallest of our riders and strong enough for our adults. Tuck has a quiet disposition and allows our riders to feel comfortable at any gate. He knows his job and is a “go to” horse. He loves to take a trail ride after a busy week to relax and enjoy his surroundings.
Tuck was retired to HSVA from the Hunter/Jumper career and was donated to us by the Macher Family.
Willow
Willow: 7 year old 14h Halflinger gelding. Willow is a small draft horse who is excellent at long reining. He is in both Hippotherapy and Therapeutic riding programs. Willow is a walk/trot horse and will be training for more in the future. Willow is strong, beautiful and full of personality.
Willow is free leased to HSVA by Raymond Peters.
