ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Healing Strides is a nonprofit working to support families and veterans through their equine therapy programs.

The nonprofit will be hosting a private premier for the film Was Once a Hero that was written and produced by Dan Searles.

Carol Young is the CEO of Healing Strides. She joined Here @ Home to invite people to the screening and explain how the movie will address the story of a Civil War hero and his battle with dementia and PTSD.

Audiences can join Healing Strides for the premier on Saturday, April 13 at the Harry and Lavon Webb arena at 672 Naff Road, Boones Mill.
