In 2019, this scholarship fund was established in Kathy Sain Giroux’s memory to live out her desire to help others and to reflect her love of animals and the therapeutic connections they make with humans.Although she suffered from a debilitating neuromuscular disease, she generated an abundance of love by sowing seeds of kindness, one simple act at a time. One of the ways Kathy dealt with the pain and depression she endured was to focus on helping other people. She was a faithful friend, and she willingly gave of her modest resources to help her favorite causes and to bring light to the world.Kathy’s husband, Ken, was instrumental in establishing the memorial scholarship in her name, but fewer than three years after Kathy’s passing, he died in an automobile accident on Valentine's Day 2022.To celebrate Kathy and Ken’s love for each other and to support Healing Strides’ mission to inspire hope to those with personal challenges, Kathy’s family chose to continue the scholarship in both of their names as the Ken and Kathryn Sain Giroux Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Sparked by the generosity of Sydney's family, this fund will provide provide ongoing access to equine-assisted services for children when coverage lapses. The Sydney and Lolly Fund ensures that no one's healing journey is abruptly jeopardized.
Sydney has been a part of the Healing Strides family since she was a young girl, and her unstoppable spirit made an impact from her very first lesson! Alongside her faithful pony companion, Lolly, Sydney’s passion has only grown over the years. It led her to become an Instructor-in-Training, sharing her knowledge and passion with the next generation of beginner riders. A true horse girl at heart, Sydney’s dynamic influence on the world is only beginning!
